In the microwavable world that we live in, we take things for granted and we let things roll with the ‘I don’t care attitude’. For some reason throughout the years, we have lost respect, honor and responsibility.
Nowadays, almost no one takes responsibility for their words, let alone their actions. It’s easier just to blow things off than to confront the issue face to face. A no man’s world. It’s a whatever I can get when I can get attitude.
What happened? Someone needs to do something about it. We might not be able to change the world but at least we can make a change. We might not be able to impact the whole world but we can impact someone else.
Maybe you’ve noticed the same things I have. For example, most people are responsible with their jobs and their homes but when it comes to responsibility in the church, for some odd reason, people tend to slack. Most people will get up and make it to their jobs on time, if not; they know they will eventually get fired. Not in church. People stroll in whenever they feel like it, not minding the time and then, they are in a hurry to get out. No responsibility.
Also, people will spend their money on things they don’t even need. But don’t let you speak to them about tithing and offerings. It’s a taboo. Prohibited. No responsibility. Yeah, they know they should do it but in reality there is no priority on doing it.
That’s why we have to be a different people with a different mindset. To be able to change the culture, we have to set standards. In reality, responsibility began in Genesis 1:26, “God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature. So they can be RESPONSIBLE for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.” Responsibility. It wasn’t invented yesterday; it has been around since before we even existed.
God took it upon Himself to show us responsibility. From the beginning, He told us that we needed to be responsible. In fact, He put us in charge. We had the earth in our hands. He trusted us so much that He gave us charge of every animal, everything that moves on the face of the Earth!! WOW, talk about dominion!!
With dominion comes responsibility. You can’t think about dominating anything that you don’t first apply the principle of responsibility. That’s the reason Adam and Eve lost dominion because they became irresponsible with the instructions God gave them. All He said was, you see that tree in the middle of the garden, don’t eat of it. They were irresponsible with the instructions and ended up sinning.
People want dominion (rule, control, authority) but lack responsibility. They are not responsible with their bills, with their promises, with their families and neither with God. They want blessings, dominion over situations, control over things that control them but they are not responsible with the little things. In Mathew 25:21 says, “If you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.” A basic principle. Be responsible.
You will gain respect, honor and dominion when you accept responsibility. It’s nothing new. Just a principle that has been lost with time. But you can start today. Be responsible in the little things and it will become easier when you get to the bigger things. Make a change today because God is ready to give you dominion just as He planned it from the beginning.
